| Toxin Name |
μ-theraphotoxin-Cg1a |
| Source Species |
Chilobrachys guangxiensis |
| Toxin Group |
Theraphotoxin |
| Description |
The toxin inhibits TTX-sensitive voltage-gated sodium channels in rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons, but not TTX-resistant voltage-gated sodium channels or voltage-gated potassium channels of the subtype Kv2.1 that are expressed in frog oocytes. Trapping of the voltage sensor in the resting conformation has been suggested as the possible mechanism, which would be similar to the suggested mechanism for μ-theraphotoxin-Hh2a, although the binding sites for both toxins should not overlay completely. |
