Toxin Name U2-ctenitoxin-Cs1a
Source Species Cupiennius  salei (Wandering spider)
Toxin Group Ctenitoxin
Description This toxin alone has very weak insecticidal activity, with an unknown molecular target. However, it acts as as a "neurotoxic enhancer", synergistically enhancing the neurotoxic action of ω-CNTX-Cs1a (CSTX-1), the major neurotoxic component of Cupiennius salei venom. The toxin has a very unusual structure; it is composed of two peptide chains (chain A = residues 1-34 and chain B = residues 35-63), with two interchain and two intrachain disulfide bridges.
